Romaldkirk Village Restoration of Historical Assets

Within Romaldkirk Village there are a number of historical features that are part of the fabric of the village, urgent work was required to preserve them for future generations.
This project aimed to restore the two village pumps (which are listed structures), replace three oak bollards to the entrance to the School House Lane and the posts and chains protecting Middle Green outside Romaldkirk Reading Room, clean the culvert in Monk’s Square and repair the stone slab foot path across the green in front of the Kirk Inn. All these features are within the Romaldkirk Village Conservation Area.
Did you know? The culverts are ancient/historic water management systems, which lead to Water Gap Lane then on to the Tees.
This project is now complete
