Wildlife Past and Present
The project aims to connect people to their surrounding environment by asking them to help to search for rare wildlife, flora and fauna, in the local area to see if a range of previously recorded uncommon or distinctive wildlife species are still present.
The focus of the project is on 5 main species; the dormouse, birds eye primrose, the otter, the water vole and the red squirrel. The project aims to discover if these rare species still occur in the area as an indicator of overall environmental quality and a reflection on how landscapes have changed over recent decades. With this knowledge on locations and contacts with interested landowners and community group’s, opportunities for conservation and future enhancement or restoration can be found.
This project is now complete.
