VIVA Community Arts Initiative
This project encourages communities to celebrate the unique identity and attractions of the particular village and parish in which they live. All the parishes share certain characteristics that come with rural Teesdale life but each of them also have a host of memories, traditions and stories, distinctive historic features and buildings, landscape qualities and wildlife.
The project aims to involve members of some eight communities in talks and discussions followed by ‘hands on’ art workshops in Community Halls to produce a piece of public artwork, such as a mural or sculpture, which in turn will become a permanent feature and attraction in the village. This involves individuals of all ages and engages a range of local artists, experts.
This project is now complete.
